Go, speed poster, go!

There's an expanded post coming later today--meanwhile, enjoy an excellent hi-res gallery of finale and post-finale photos--and quite a few great candids--of the Idol finalists, courtesy of a very generous poster at Idolforums. (There's a nice shot of Bucky after the ET taping in the preview post, and much more in the gallery itself...)

An eye-opening tour update from the Atlanta Constitution-Journal's Rodney Ho contains this curious tidbit--he's writing about Atlanta dates, but the situation is probably similar wherever you are:

More than 200 tickets are on sale on eBay at the moment. It appears based on completed listings you can get your tix cheaper this way but there is a little more risk than with established brokers.

So of those five sites alone, more than 1,400 seats, or more than 6 percent of the entire ticket inventory is available. Those are major sites but you have to wonder how many of the seats are in the hands of folks who have no intention of actually GOING to the Idol tour but are merely trying to make a buck. That’s capitalism! I’ll check again as the dates get closer to see if the prices start dropping as folks get more desperate to unload.
Hmmmm. Something tells us the strategic waiting game has already begun...

And if you're curious about what USA Today readers (i.e. mainstream-ish people who probably didn't spend much time hanging out on hardcore Idol fan boards) thought were the Idols' best individual performances during the show, wonder no longer. It looks like "Superstition" was the favorite Bucky Covington turn, with "Fat Bottomed Girls" running a respectable second. (Interesting--the two themes many considered the toughest were the biggest hits with the general public, and "Raindrops" was a surprise smash success as well. Bucky's talents were up to anything Idol could throw at him, weren't they?)

Feel free to leave a comment and share which Bucky performance, in retrospect, was your favorite. (If you're anything like me, you're finding it very tough to pick just one. Mr. Barnes at USA Today is threatening promising to share his choices sometime next week on his blog, so check back.)

See you later today!

That photo on the steps looks fantastic! My favorites were "The Thunder Rolls" and "Wave on Wave". Those to me really showed something special in his voice.

  2. OMG those pics were great! A fave performance! You're right! I can't pick just one lol I am a big Wave on Wave fan lol But I loved Superstition because all we heard all week was "Bucky can't do Stevie. Bucky is going home no way can he sing Stevie" etc. Then he was one of the best of the night. I love FBG too and Real Good Man.

  3. This is a tough question, isn't it?

I think I'll always rank "Thunder Rolls" pretty high...that was the first time I heard Bucky, and his distinctive voice caught my attention right away. "Wave on Wave" sealed the deal...I heard that and realized I was sticking with Bucky and the show for as long as he was there, despite my intentions to skip Idol this year. (Hee!)

And "Real Good Man" was the first time a theme really allowed Bucky to do something he was into since the finals began--loved that growl and the cool, flirtatious moves. (That hat, too!)

"Best I Ever Had"--wow. Something in his voice really conveyed the resigned heartbreak of this tender song. Just a lovely, lovely performance. It still gives me a lump in my throat. (I also really appreciated the "pimp spot" staging and lighting...first time all show that I felt he'd been treated like a star performer.)

And "FBG" was just total fun--for us and for him, I bet. He can really get a crowd going.

I'll stop now, otherwise this'll be a whole separate post. But yes, it's impossible to pick just one, isn't it?
