A little breather...

The Idolsphere is pretty quiet so far today, but here are a couple of fun stops to make while Bucky and the other Idols rehearse for Queen Night:

Here's an excerpt from a print-only article in a recent edition of the Laurinburg, NC Exchange, with details on the American Idol film crew's visit. Bucky and Rocky's family, friends, teachers and local fans were interviewed for the piece, which will air if when Bucky makes it to the Top Six. (Ahem!) This is a must-read, with some sweet glimpses of what the brothers Covington were like growing up:

Chris Jordan attended Jack and Jill Day Care with Bucky and Rocky. With a laugh, Chris recalled that Bucky shared his blocks well, when some of the others didn't. "We could build them higher than we could stand. And I can remember that the director said that Bucky and Rocky would be stars one day. I remember that because I was very jealous," he admitted. "I asked my mother why didn't I get a twin. I thought that's why they were going to be stars. But they were very entertaining then," he recalled. [...]

Grandmother Annie Stricklin remembered little Bucky as mischievous, but not bad. "He was always joking, laughing and happy. I think he's doing well on the show. I really appreciate all the support and he has voiced that many times." When he lived in Laurinburg as a little boy, Stricklin recalled, Bucky and Rocky had a karaoke machine and all their friends would come over and sing on it. "I said then that one day Bucky, and Rocky too, would make good country singers."

John McNeill, a resident of Deercroft, reflected, "People perform their whole lives and never get any recognition for it. This show provides people an opportunity they would never get any other way. I think it's wonderful."

(Remember--the background videos for the Top Six are the only ones that will air. Not that we're hinting that you should vote, vote, vote until your fingers go numb...wait, that's exactly what we're doing, really...) Thanks to Willa for sharing this article with us!

And a kind reader directed us to a fantastic new Bucky Covington fan site--
Buckylove.net is full of beautiful graphic delights of all kinds--screencaps, wallpapers, photos--with more good stuff coming soon. Enjoy!
