Extremely quick update (really!)

It's official--Bucky's Nashville journey has begun. According to this beautifully written article in the Richmond County Daily Journal (a must-read, and a heartfelt tribute, too):

His stay this time in Rockingham was short — shorter than he’d like and shorter than his fans wanted.

Bucky headed to Nashville early Thursday, trying to work out a deal “so I can start a new career.” After that, he’s contractually bound to “American Idol” through the end of the Season Five national tour. The dates and locations for those shows will be released in early May (last year’s “Idol” tour North Carolina stop was in Greensboro).

Wednesday night’s appearance at Hugo’s wasn’t the official welcome home for Bucky. He just wanted to say a quick hello to his fans and enjoy his old band, Caddy Wampus.

The date for Bucky Bash, which will be held at Raider Stadium to accommodate the thousands who want to see the sensation, depends on Bucky’s success in Nashville this week.

Be sure to check out Bucky's sunny smile on the front cover (.pdf file), too.

And now that he's on his way, how do Bucky's supporters keep up with what's happening? A good bookmark for Nashville doings in general is Hazel Smith's Nashville Insider podcast. Mrs. Smith had very kind things to say about Bucky a few broadcasts ago; something tells us his name may pop up in her commentary again soon. And naturally, you'll want to hit CMT News and GAC News, as well as the Hollywood Reporter and Billboard. (Yes, we know that Billboard's Idol blogger was not a Bucky fan, to say the least. But no matter--if Bucky makes news it'll be written up in Billboard. We'll take a cue from Bucky and thank the writer for helping to make someone else's dreams come true.)

It's an exciting time to be a Bucky Covington supporter. We'll keep an eye out for any Nashville bulletins...stay tuned!

(Edited to add links to two great radio interviews, courtesy of Sunscreen [thanks!]--here's Bucky on 106.1 BLI, Long Island [also streamed at the station site here],and on WRAL's Bill & Sheri morning show. Enjoy!)

Wonder if his release from the Idol contrct at the end of the tour is a done deal? <3

  2. You and I are sharing the same wonder...hmmm. Hope some more info is on its way--most of what I can find is based on previous years, but heaven only knows how they're doing it for the Season Five contestants.

Guess we'll find out soon enough! =)

  3. Hee! Nope, you're not--it's pretty natural to wince at the music that's being played to accompany a bummer of a moment, I think. (The cure might be a new Bucky Covington song played on the radio, sometime late next year...)
