At least the guest performance's moments were mellow. Kenny Rogers sang a cute new tune called "I Can't Unlove You", as the Idols swayed nervously to the beat, some a bit more enthusiastically than others. (The lighting people gave us swirling triangles this time, rather than Barry Manilow's dizziness-inducing daisies. No odd geometrics for Shakira, though. Are the wild lights some sort of compensatory, short-attention-span visual excitement trotted out when more, er, mature performers are in the guest spot? Because if that's the case, I guarantee you that the Idol Lighting Guy is going to mortally insult one "experienced" guest or another before the season is out. Mark my words.)

Taylor began the first group; Mandisa was the first member of group two, with Elliott joining her. Paris filled the third spot in the second group, and when a smiling Kellie and Chris got up to stand beside Taylor, you knew which bunch had safe written across their foreheads. Kellie, Chris and Taylor made a quick U-turn to the sofas.
That left Bucky (wearing a white shirt and yesterday's soft brown cowboy hat) with Ace and Katharine--bottom-three veterans, all--in one group. And as a group, they were declared safe. (Yes!)

I have to give the Idol people credit for squeezing in a preview of next week's show--with any luck, I'll be able to screencap Bucky's wild (hatless!) rocker gyrations to the music of Queen. Next week should be fun.
Safe again--congratulations, Bucky!
Are you sure?

He's safe!
Paris, Elliott and Mandisa were bottom three. Mandisa went home, after the best sing-off so far this season.
Bucky was declared safe at about the middle of the show, thank goodness.
Full recap later tonight!
More Bucky!!!!! <3 I liked Mandisa though, she seemed nice. Go Buckaroos!!!!
ReplyDeleteSigh--I'm sentimental enough to always be a little bluesy when someone goes, even if I know they'll be fine! But I am so glad they didn't prolong Bucky's agony the way they usually do. I was a little annoyed to see him sitting at the end of the sofa next to Katharine, because I thought they'd pull the same stunt they used last week. Nope, tonight there was a different brand of sadistic gimmick.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I guess I rather hate boot episodes!
Awwwww! I think there are a lot of passengers in that particular pickup truck! ;) Not only are you not alone, but you're not alone in showing it with your redial button. Go us!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely relieved and happy tonight. Whew!
I wish I'd been able to tape the show tonight--that rocking-out-to-Queen snippet was awesome. Bucky's country side is beautiful, but next week it's fair to assume we'll get a bit of rock-and-roll attitude. I can't wait!
Fine the way you're doing it now. I'm up late anyways :)
