Friday news: Bucky Covington article at AL.com, MySpace winner chosen today, WZZK Throwdown update and more...

Our talented friend Pizzi sent along this great shot of Bucky Covington performing "I'll Walk" in Poughkeepsie last week--you can enjoy more of her concert photos at her Photobucket gallery, and scroll down for an excerpt from her recap of the exciting night. Many thanks to Pizzi for sharing!

Mary Colurso's excellent interview with Bucky in this morning's Birmingham News is a must-read--Bucky talks about everything from the fun of his first visit to Birmingham (with Taylor Hicks) to the joys of being on the road with his twin brother Rocky Covington. (This might also be the first time we've seen Rocky's site linked, complete with photo, from a newspaper's blog--if you haven't been to Rocky's place yet, stop in today and have fun.) Thanks to Buckyflowers for the kind heads-up...

And while we're visiting Alabama, here's a quick update on the WZZK Throwdown concert on Saturday, May 10--the music starts at 3 p.m. at 11th Avenue North at 22nd Street in downtown Birmingham. Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Blake Shelton are the performers (nice lineup!) and tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, April 12--but there's a presale on the 7th. (We'd heartily reccomend getting on the WZZK mailing list and tuning in for more details on that one.) Tickets will be $15 at Ticketmaster, and AL.com notes that a $50 VIP option will be offered as well. Hope you'll be there!

And a reminder--today's the day that the winner of Bucky's "It's Good to Be Us" contest will be revealed at his MySpace blog. Stay tuned for updates, and good luck! (Update--Bucky's video featuring the drawing of the winner's name is posted now; click here to see it. Thanks to Bucky and his crew for sponsoring such a fun contest!)

We'll keep requesting! This weekend is an excellent opportunity to gain some ground, now that the superstars have done their polevaulting and the battle is on for the Top Ten again...

In keeping with the "Alabama" theme (and because we get a lot of requests for this one) here's Jason Michael Carroll and Bucky Covington adding a truly unforgettable spin to the classic "Sweet Home Alabama" in Chicago last year. Enjoy!

On the tube and around the net: The top photo at The Covington Times today will sure bring back some memories, as will the look back at Bucky's beautiful "Best I Ever Had" performance. (We'd love to see a new set of "official" portraits of Bucky soon, but he's such a busy man that it's had to think of when they'd get taken!) . Midask9's fantastic concert photo from Bucky's Northern Lights stop and some important reminders are yours at It's Good to Be Us today, and Nikki's Simply a Bucky Fan has lots of handy request resources for you, as always.

Want to know how it feels to be right up front for a Throttle Wide Open show? Pizzi's got the scoop for you today--she's posted her entire recap from the Poughkeepsie concert at the official message board at BuckyCovington.com. Here's a taste:

Luke came on first and was really good...he did great. Then Bucky came out and of course we went wild, he had great interaction with the crowd. He sounded fantastic. They had like a catwalk come out of the stage, and yes they were on it... Bucky sat on the stage to sing "I'll Walk"-- he was right there, I took some pics, you'll see. They came out pretty good.

Later Dierks was seated out on the catwalk walk to sing a special song....not sure of the name but something to do with My Last Name... being the only thing you really have to give someone... Dierks kept looking back, so of course nosy me had to look too... well, I saw a nice shiny diamond in the crowd, the guy next to me was about to propose. Dierks was in on the whole thing. The guy said it took month to work w/Dierks' people and such. Anyway, Dierks held back, did she say yes???? It was cool. (got pics on that too) It was all too crazy...

Luke and Bucky came out for the finale - it was so good. I loved the show.

Thanks, Pizzi--sounds like Poughkeepsie was a blast!
