Bucky Covington on stage singing "I'll Walk" during the New Faces Showcase at CRS-39; click here to see more great showcase photos by the very kind Happydays. Thanks again, Happy!
Bucky Covington's final CMT Power Picks matchup of the week is coming up later this morning; tune in and log on at 11 a.m. ET (please note new time) to vote. "It's Good to Be Us will face a challenge at the beginning of the show. At 11, please click that button to go to the main Power Picks site, hit the "Vote Now" link, and watch that pop-up voting window. When you see Bucky's photo, mouse-click him to victory! (Thanks to Laura and Dixie for their very kind reminders.) This morning starts out with a lucky number, as an anonymous friend pointed out in comments; Bucky's "It's Good to Be Us" is #14 on both the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts, #14 on the Radio & Records country singles chart, and #14 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart today. Better yet--all of them bear a bullet. (Can we make #10 the next lucky across-the-board number? Keep requesting and voting, remember your favorite syndicated radio shows tonight, and stay tuned...)
(Click here to get the badge at left for your MySpace, webpage or email signature.)Upcoming shows: One more day until Bucky's back on stage! He and his band rock the Buffalo Bar in St. Joseph, Missouri tomorrow night; the venue has no official website, so we're not sure if this one's officially sold out or not. If you're planning on making a last minute trip to the show, call Biggins Sports Bar & Grill (816 232-4450) or the Buffalo Bar at (816) 390-8444 for details on ticket availability and possible at-the-door sales.
Bucky's back home in Nashville for the Danielle Peck & Friends Benefit Concert on Monday, March 24th at The Mercy Lounge; grab your ticket now at www.ticketweb.com. All proceeds for the show benefit the Safe Haven Family Shelter, and there are more details about the all-star evening at Safe Haven's site.
On Thursday, March 27th, Bucky joins Dierks Bentley and new father (congratulations!) Luke Bryan for a concert at the Broome Arena in Binghampton, NY as the Throttle Wide Open tour resumes. Ticketmaster has your ticket to what's sure to be a fantastic night. (Tickets for most of Dierks Bentley's Throttle Wide Open dates are available now at Ticketmaster--check Dierks' official website for details on non-Ticketmaster events. )
An industry-expert's article with raves about this year's CRS New Faces crossed our desk last night (see below), but a video paints a thousand words. By popular demand, here's Buckymouse's classic montage from Bucky Covington's performance at CRS-39. Enjoy!
On the tube and around the net: Enjoy a cheerful concert shot of Bucky (dare to you resist smiling back at that one!), a terrific KGRT image of the Covington brothers and some thoughtful musigs on Idol and beyond at The Covington Times today. Our friend Midask9 shares birthday wishes for Bucky's "Special Mother" Tracey at It's Good to Be Us, and hints that a CMT Power Picks win would be a nice birthday gift for her. (We agree!)
And are you ready for yet another CRS-related accolade? Radio marketing guru Loyd Ford--who praised Taylor Swift as “youthful lightning in a bottle”--had this to say about her New Faces "classmates" in an article for a trade publication:
The 2008 New Faces Show gave us a group of artists who performed with great passion and perspective while in the process of launching a country career. You hear stories about artists being nervous about performing at this event, and there is no doubt it has jump-started or ended careers. It was good to see this year’s “class” perform well...
Bucky Covington’s “I’ll Walk” offered the CRS audience what could be “The Dance” of the coming year. Jason Michael Carroll, Jake Owen and Luke Bryan seemed to connect and showed great feeling in their performances as well. The New Faces Show lived up to its promise of giving radio the opportunity to see what the labels and industry engines are pushing forward to the country format over the next twelve months.
Bucky's fans' mutual excitement about his New Faces nod seems to have been well-placed; as the after-the-fact reports have trickled in, it seems clear that the Class of '08 made a very good impression on radio professionals. Congratulations to Bucky and to all his New Faces contemporaries-- the industry and the listeners have a lot to look forward to this year!
The "It's Good to Be Us" quiz contest continues at Bucky's MySpace blog--your next chance to win is at 4 p.m ET today. The first MySpace poster who answers the question correctly in Bucky's MySpace comments wins an autographed picture and a grand prize entry, and one random winner of those same prizes will be chosen from all the posters who've answered the question correctly--but you've got to post your answer in the blog before Bucky's quiz-solving video appears. Good luck!
Vote for Bucky: Show Bucky's exciting video for "It's Good to Be Us" some affection at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown and at CMT's Top 20 Countdown today.
Our next countdown post about the 2008 CMT Music Awards is coming late tonight, but the actual balloting is going on 24/7 until April 11th--which means you can feel free (very, very free, y'all) to register at CMT and vote now, and recruit as many friends, co-workers, email buddies, strangers and neighbors as you can!More later--happy Thursday!
Today I guess one could say Bucky and IG2BU are #14:
ReplyDelete#14 on Billboard Hot Country Songs;
#14 on R&R; #14 on Mediabase, Top 500; #14 on Mediabase, weighted.
That's a lot of fourteens! :) (Hoping "10" is the next across-the-board lucky number...)
ReplyDeleteI hate conspiracy theorists but what is it about CMT and Bucky? I tuned it early to vote on PowerPicks and it had LeAnne & MG on...it never switched to Bucky and Jason. I found out Jason won as I heard his song on the TV. It seems to always be some tech glitch there. Maybe it is just my computer with the problem and not an international conspiracy. But you never know. I am just tired of this happening.
ReplyDeleteHi, Anon--I think you're right about it being a tech glitch rather than anything else--an annoying and extremely frustrating glitch to be sure. (I've taken to sometimes closing the voting window pop up and reloading it to mke sure it's updated, which is somewhat risky. If the matchup you're trying to vote on is in progress, you do lose some time, and if the screen jams--yikes! I thought I was having personal tech problems because I didn't see Bucky for very long at all...)
ReplyDeleteNot sure what the science is behind it all but hopefully an extra syndicated request or some successful local "top X at X" votes will make up for the missed video play. The main thing is that we are supporting the song bigtime--and if one door closes, we are very good at charming a few others into opening...
Having said all that, a win would have been great! Hope next time the tech forces and all our voting buddies are with us and we bag a win.
Big request. Please give a shout out to Steve Cook at Shiny Bass Journal. Bucky fans may have forgotten or don't know he keeps a weekly journal since he has been on the road with Bucky. He is a very good writer and keeps us informed of what happens on the tour and whats coming up. (Which he has given great info on where Bucky and some of the band members have been the last couple of days but will have to read to find out.)
ReplyDeleteAlso we need to show the band members more love so remind everyone to leave them a comment on their my spaces. Thanks
Thanks and will do!
ReplyDeletePS: Anon 11:25, could you please drop me an email at buckymaniablog@yahoo.com? I decided to edit a bit but I believe I owe you an off-blog apology. :) Thanks!
