Bucky Covington at the Glass Cactus in Grapevine, Texas, 1/19; photo by the very generous AmaTexMom. Thanks so much! You can see more of her beautiful photos at her site, BuckyFanPics. The Hudson Valley Times Herald-Record has a double dose of fun from last night's Throttle Wide Open show--click here for a fantastically funny blog post, complete with a bit of meet and greet madness with Bucky Covington, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and a "special guest", and a review of Bucky's set:
Nice, yes? There's also a beautiful photo gallery of concert shots linked from their front page this morning (scroll down a bit until you see a thumbnail of Dierks in the Photos section--the gallery pops up.) Enjoy!I honestly think a lot of people (including myself) underestimated how talented he really is. He’s a showman and his band is solid. He did his own stuff and also played “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis.
At one point, I start to hear what I refuse to believe I’m hearing and Tom turns to me and says, “No way.”
He starts playing Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall Part II” and the entire place goes nuts. Everyone is singing along and he killed it! Seriously nailed it. I might actually try to get my hands on his version. It was more rocked-up, but still stayed true to the original version. Like Daughtry, he’s one “American Idol” contestant who didn’t need to win the show to have a promising career in music.
Chart news: Bucky's single "It's Good to Be Us" is winding up the week at #10 with a plump bullet on the Mediabase weighted listings, and it's #14 on the Top 500. There's a falling hit at #8 and a rising supergroup at #11--can we hang on to that Top 10 spot and get the Billboard/Radio & Records #10 for the week? Only one way to help make that happen--keep requesting! (Tonight's weekly syndicated shows are a perfect opportunity to give Bucky's hit a boost...)Upcoming shows: We've got one more Throttle Wide Open party this week--Dierks, Bucky and Luke rock the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut, then the tour takes a break before hitting Jackson, Tennessee on April 3rd (tickets on sale at the City of Jackson site) and the BJCC Arena in Birmingham on April 4th (Ticketmaster).
Bucky doesn't take a much of a break, though--you can see and hear him as part of the all-star lineup at the WKDF Birthday Bash in Nashville on March 30. Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster..
Tickets for most of Dierks Bentley's Throttle Wide Open dates are available now at Ticketmaster--check Dierks' official website for details on non-Ticketmaster events.
(By request, a shot fron the last time Bucky "graced the Idol stage"--May, 2006...)On the tube and around the net: MJ's Big Blog has a morning post highlighting the April 2nd American Idol segment featuring Bucky, Bo Bice and Phil Stacey. The wording she quotes from the newsletter is intriguing: "Bucky will take the American Idol stage once again on April 2nd! Be sure to check your local listings for air times and join Bucky fans everywhere as he graces the AI stage once again." Hmmmm..."graces the stage"? We're not sure exactly what that means (just the taped segment or something more?) but we'll be watching...

Love the new look. It is actually easier to read and I love the mix of colors against the mint green background.
ReplyDeleteTonight I am off to Wallingford to get my first Bucky fix of 2008 (and to see Luke and Dierks). I am trying to think of something more intelligent to say besides I'm your biggest Brooklyn fan. I get so tongue tied in the face of so much purdy.
I see MJ is announcing that Bucky will perform on the April 2 idol show. Does she know something that we don't?
Thanks, Beesims, and congrats on your first Bucky fix of the new year--I hope you'll post a review at MJ's! (Unless there's a miracle, I won't get a dose of concert fun until June or July, so I am all about the viacrious thrills...)
ReplyDeleteYou know, the performance whispers have been floating since yesterday morning, and I am desperately trying to get a confirmation. MJ meantioned a fan leter but so far I haven't gotten the latest email blast from the fan club--if anyone out there has, please pass along a link. A performance would be off-the-charts cool...
And I am giggling at the struggle for intelligent conversation under those circusmtances. (Tough, innit? ;) Have a blast tonight!
Winnie! It's so pretty!!!! I love the new mix of colors! Really nice to look at, a very calming effect which we all need as we view Bucky pictures and read the news which over excites us!!!!!!! Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteKerri/Kgator
Wait!! I am not anonymous! I do have a Google/Blogger account, I think!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the new look. So spring-like, and light!
ReplyDeleteI so hope I am wrong but what MJ may be referring to is on the BCO fansite under tour:
"American Idol Appearance! April 02, 2008 Tune in to see Bucky on American Idol! Check your local listings for channel and time! "
I just assumed this meant the video of Bo, Phil and Bucky in Nashville as mentioned by Phil.I would die if Bucky actually performs. Kellie's CD sales were up 6000 units the week after her appearance. Crossing fingers.
I love that fabulous review of Bucky's concert..thanks so much.
Hi Kerri and Anon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much...I have been meaning to freshen the layout for ages but life kept getting in the way of fun time. Glad you like it!
Yes, there is a lot of excitement happening, and that review is a smile-inducer. It's always fun when a writer who hears Bucky and his band live for the first time comes back impressed and satisfied. They really do rock--we know that, but it's always nice to hear it from first-timers... :)
I am guessing that it is indeed just a taped segment, but even that will be a nice memory-jogger for Idol fans who haven't kept up with Bucky=--perhaps they'll like the songs, buy the CD, turn up for the shows? Kellie's boost after her fun "Red High Heels" performance was impressive, and it'd be fantastic if Bucky got a performance spot too--if not there next week, then on a national TV show soon...
Happy Saturday to you, too!
also writing to say how much I like the new look. So refreshing and easy on the eyes. Cool colors are always more relaxing to read, and the wood look in the background is cool. And as much as we all like the blue eyes in the last pic, the new header pic is indeed a winner and fits well with the new color scheme.
ReplyDeleteStill holding on to that top 10. According to mediabase IG2BU is the 2nd most played video at GAC. YEA!!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look Winnie, great job. And a big thanx for all you do.

Anon 5:05, thank you and sorry I missed you yesterday! I'm really glad the new look is pleasing...it's always a little scary making a change, so your feedback is really reassuring. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd Marzy, thanks and wow for that news! Gotta give GAC some props--that is wonderful. Poated it out front and thank you!
