Quick Thursday news: Power Picks today, live in Michigan tonight, chartgazing and more...

By request, Bucky Covington charms the crowd during a sunny show in Turlock, CA; click here to enjoy a beautiful set of concert photos by the very kind Minnie. Thanks so much for your fantastic concert shots!

Check out CMT Power Picks. Your votes decide which country music videos get played!Just a reminder-- Bucky Covington's "It's Good to Be Us" faces a head-to-head challenge on CMT Power Picks today at noon ET. (All the contenders for the day are listed here.) Bucky's matchup will happen during the middle of the show, so at noon, click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page, hit the "Vote Now" button, and stand by to cast your vote for Bucky. (Updated--congratulations to Bucky and thanks to all who voted for another win on Power Picks today!)

And tonight, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Bucky Covington will heat things up in Michigan when they play the Palace of Auburn Hills; last-minute seats are available at Ticketmaster, and it looks as though a few good lower level spots were released this morning--hop over there, snap them up, and enjoy the show!

Here's a quick look at today's happenings:

Chart news: "It's Good to Be Us" has been engaged in a wrestling match since this weekend with a longtime hitmaker's new tune, and today said hitmaker traded places with Bucky--"It's Good to Be Us" is now #17 on the Mediabase weighted chart this morning, and #16 on the Top 500 . The good news is that the bullets are shining brightly in both places--and the numbers are close. Add some volatility in the higher parts of the chart, and yep--opportunity's knocking again. Keep requesting!

Ducky Medlock (on bass), Hans Nelson (on keyboards) and Bucky Covington rock the crowd at last summer's Lycoming County Fair; photo courtesy of the_mumbler, who shares more great shots--and videos--from the concert here. (Thanks again!)

Upcoming shows: It's fun to watch the summer and autumn fair schedule fill in, and here's another date to look out for--Bucky and his excellent band will rock the Aurora Farmer's Fair in Aurora, Indiana on Saturday, October 4th. (Plenty of time to make those plans!)

Shows a little closer on the horizon: P
re-sale tickets for the WKDF Birthday Bash in Nashville on 3/30 will be available at Ticketmaster today at 10 a.m. Central; I don't have the password, but WKDF and the Sommet Center both have mailing lists to join--chances are good that you'll get one after signing up, or by listening to the station...

Tickets for most of
Dierks Bentley's Throttle Wide Open tour are available now at Ticketmaster--check Dierks' website for info on non-Ticketmaster dates. Seats for the Jackson, TN Dierks Bentley concert on April 3rd are available at the City of Jackson site, and general admission tickets for Bucky's headlining date at The Machine Shop in Flint, MI tomorrow night can be purchased at www.etix.com. (This is a limited-capacity venue, so if you're planning to go, Etix is a good idea--tickets may or may not be available at the door. When in doubt, call the venue!)

Click the image to watch Bucky's video at CMT.com. Bucky Covington smiles for the camera during a photo session for his CD cover; screencap by Sunscreen of the Bucky Truck Stop at Rawkhands. Thanks, Sunscreen!

On the tube and around the net: Bucky's part of this week's CMT Insider on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, with several repeats following. GAC just played Bucky's exuberant video for "It's Good to Be Us", but if you missed it this time, you can catch it again at about 6: 35 p.m. ET, or online 24/7 at CMT.com.

Be sure to stop in at
The Covington Times for a great shot of Bucky from the new South Florida Free Press gallery, a sweet smiling portrait of Rocky Covington by Honeygirl, chart commentary, fun history and more. Midask9 muses about the chart ups and downs today at It's Good to Be Us. (It has been a wild ride on Mediabase!) Nikki's Simply a Bucky Fan has some terrific advice about voting where it counts. And a big thanks to the folks at the Erwin Record's Country's Chatter blog for their very kind words--the admiration is mutual! Grab a cup of coffee and bookmark Country's Chatter; it's an easygoing and enjoyable way to catch up with your country favorites, including Bucky.

Stay tuned to Bucky's MySpace blog for more news on that upcoming "It's Good to Be Us" contest--it'll sure be good to be the winner of those two concert tickets and a meet and greet with Bucky!

  2. Hey, Unknown! That is actually one of my all time favorite summer photos--nothing like getting together with a bunch of good friends to hear a great band in high summer. Can't beat it.

Hope you're enjoying the warm breezes down there--it's snowing up here. Again. Good to see you!
