Tonight in Tacoma...

There's a play-by-play scheduled tonight, courtesy of the generous posters at Keeping the Boogie Alive--and there's likely to be one going on at the Fox boards, as well. Best places to check are the Taylor Hicks and Idol Concert Series sub-folders; so far there's no thread started, but chances are good one will begin shortly. The Tacoma Dome show begins at 7:00 p.m. Pacific/10:00 p.m. Eastern.

(Going out, but I'll see you in the wee hours. Enjoy the show!)

    Hello, B,
Well, I thought Id let you know that my friend and
I gave it a try to meet Bucky and the guys , but we didnt get to! Boo! We arrived at 2:30, later than we
meant to, to be told that Bucky, Ace, Paris and Taylor had all been out there off and on for the
past hour and a half! Ooh I could have kicked myself for not leaving an hour earlier!
Still, we waited out there with others for
3 and a half more hours, but they didnt
    come out again.
Oh well! The concert itself was fabulous - everyone's voices sounded great, esp
Bucky. His set went by so fast, but I did run
up to the barrier when he came down to the crowd during Drift Away, and he grabbed my
hand !!!! I was so happy just for that.
His finger tips have those callouses that guitar
players have , which of course makes sense.
I had SO much fun! After, no idols came out because they had to go right to the airport for
Denver. I can definitely see why you have gone
to more than one concert - I would in a
heartbeat if there was one near me.
I even thought about going back east for one..
I grew up there, so could make it a visit.
I think the closest would be CT, though, from
VT. - I did nt get any pics, though -
they were all blurry! I think I was too excited.
I only got a pic of me and other fans waiting at the gates.
    There's my mini report!
    best, Chan

  2. Hi Chan...

Oh, wow--sounds like you had a great time! And how cool that you got a handshake from Bucky! (Yep, guitarists do have some pretty distinctive callouses.) I'm sorry that you missed Bucky, Ace and Paris outside, but it sure sounds like the show itself more than made up for that...so happy to hear that you had a blast! I knew you would... :)

Even though the show is silly and goofy (and I agree that there isn't nearly enough Bucky--his set flies by, doesn't it?) it's oddly addictive. If you can somehow combine a visit back east with a show, why not? My siblings think it's nuts that I went to the same concert more than once. I've never done that before! Luckily, I was able to combine the out of town shows with some work-related travel...sneaky.

Thanks for the mini report--I hope this is the first of many times that you'll get to enjoy Bucky Covington live!

    Thanks B!
I looked at my budget , and I cant swing the East
, but I'm hoping that Bucky will be back on the road in support of a cd within the year.
I'd think they need to strike while the iron is hot!

I am still thrilled that I got a hand to hand
touch with him. Its so silly, but its like touching
a dream - an affirmation of all the good
things that can happen when you keep working
towards your dreams, like he has, and like we all
    do, hopefully.
I plan on supporting Elliott, and Taylor
too, (not that he needs it!!) on tour when they
    come around again.
Oh, and too funny about that Chris=Female Viagra sign. I saw that - it was quite a young
woman who was carrying it! My friend and I were
    laughing.
It was a great night. I screamed way too much,
but had to show them all the love!
    best, Chan

  4. Chan,

Not silly at all--I think that's part of the charm of Bucky's being up there, really. He's living his dream, and it's a sweet reminder of the value of going after your dreams, whatever they may be. (Your story made me smile. I'd love to shake his hand someday!)

Taylor (he's fantastic, isn't he?) and Elliott (what a smoothie, I love him) are incredible--definitely worth checking them all out when they start touring on their own. And I'm with you--I hope Bucky's recording and back on the road very soon, because the iron is really hot right now...

Thanks again, I loved reading your review!
